Waste management and landfill activities play an important social role that can make a significant difference by enabling spaces and policies for environmental sustainability and a circular economy. In the context of corporate social responsibility, Afvalzorg aims to make a significant contribution and be part of the solution.
United Nations goals
Back in 2015, the United Nations summarised the major challenges of our time in 17 specific themes and formulated objectives for these: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The intention is for these to be achieved by 2030, and their importance lies in the positive impact they have on our climate, the protection of our planet and biodiversity. But above all, they are intended to ensure that quality of life improves all around the globe, especially for those who are currently the furthest behind.
Afvalzorg team
Afvalzorg has created a special team dedicated to discussing and implementing policies that will help us to contribute to this change. The plan incorporates SDGs that focus on projects and activities in the Netherlands, such as clean water and sanitation, industry, innovation and infrastructure, responsible consumption and production, climate action, partnerships and good health and well-being. However, the plan is not limited to one country – for our projects abroad, results for additional SDGs may also apply.
By working on CO2 emission reduction strategies, implementing circular economy methods in our processes, promoting biodiversity in our landfill sites, redevelopment and clean energy on landfills, and much more, Afvalzorg is committed to creating a better future for all.
