University-Industry collaboration can provide many benefits. Ideas are shared and interchanged in a two way direction, creating practical case studies in field situations and on a greater scale than at the campus. For many years, Afvalzorg has worked together with universities in the Netherlands and abroad, as well as with different research institutes.
There are different approaches to collaborative research and projects. Whether in a classroom, an office or in the field, Afvalzorg experts have share on multiple occasions the knowledge and experience acquired along the years, providing students with a great opportunity to expand their knowledge and have a better understanding of the waste industry. Equally, Universities have worked together with Afvalzorg in research programs that involve internships, field campaigns, site visits and both long and short term research projects such as the 10 year project Introduction to sustainable landfill management.
Some of the Universities and research institutes that Afvalzorg has worked hand-in-hand include: Delft University of Technology, Wageningen University, South Hampton University, University of Hamburg, University of Padova, The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (TNO), VU Amsterdam.
